Morning: Desire and infinity
The infinity of desire is mathematical. It traverses, one might say, the infinite sequence of natural numbers, negative and positive: like from -10 to -11 and -12, from 11 to 12, 13, 14..., it goes from object to object, unsatisfied and disappointed by one it turns to another, to yet another, and so on to infinity, unlike need which is in a loop, satisfies itself, is reborn, satisfies itself... The desire for infinity is metaphysical. Constantly confronted with what is lacking, with what it does not have, it combines reason and imagination to turn towards what cannot "be there" and therefore cannot be lacking: infinity itself, the absolute, the divine, totality, what is to come, eternity, perfection, fullness or beatitude, the wholly Other.
