A Wedding in the Spotlight. Rainier III and Grace Kelly. 12–19 April 1956
The Cabinet of Curiosities of the Audiovisual Institute details the production of "The Wedding of Monaco" by Jean Masson, the work of professional media (television, newsreels, photographers) and the perspective of amateur filmmakers present.
Following the announcement of the wedding of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly in Monaco, proposals to "film" the event flooded in. In February 1956, from the United States, the Sovereign made his decision: "one film, and one film only, in colour and cinemascope, will be produced by the Principality".
Offered to the curiosity of visitors, films, photographs, archives and equipment trace the history of this unique production and detail the media apparatus of an event that transformed the face of the Principality.
Monday to Friday 9:30 am–12:30 pm and 1:30 pm–5:30 pm (4:30 pm Friday).
